Here we go with another SAR production, from 1980 this is ‘Papaito’,

Yesterday I had a bit of an offday, after that fantastic match, the
Netherlands played monday, I had a few beers, well you know.
This morning I was going to do some ripping but my nextdoor
neighbours started to break out walls with lots of noise so, I have
to get out of here. I had this Pedrinho Rodrigues waiting for a
moment like this. Hope to find some peace later today, we’ll
be back then.tracks;

Something funny is going on here, the A-side of this LP has 4 numbers
according to the backcover, but the LP has 5 tracks on each side.
When we look at the arrangerscredits we see that we miss track 2.
If I listen closely I can not make out excactly, so for the record
I named that second track; ‘El hulk de la salsa’, after the albumtitle.
I hope you aprove there. By the way, don’t you just love that cover ?
This is an old time personal favorite, especially #’s 9 and 10 I used
to play a lot on party’s. Johnny Zamot beats
his rhythms tide, check it out !tracks;

Today is a buisy day for me, tonight we’ll have the first matches

Championship Soccer. Before that I have my work, so some early
posting today. As you may remember, about a month ago we had ‘Roda
de Samba vol. 1’, Now this here is volume 2, I have been trying to find
the original cover. My copy is a French pressing and I have no idea
how the Brazilian one looks like. If you have it , we would love to see
it, thanks. If we forget about the cover we can check on the music.Really nice Samba compilation with more or less the same artists
as on the first volume. ‘Aparecida’, ‘Sabrina’, ‘Rubens da Mangueira’,

‘Chimurenga’ is what they call this type of music, and it is from Zimbabwe.
Thomas Mapfumo comes in with this superb LP, he is the master in this style.
Originally released on Gramma in 1980, this is a 1986 re-release on
Earthworks. Very subtil guitar pushed African type of groove.
You’d better judge yourself.tracks;

Around 1980 there was a movement going on called ‘Dub Poetry’.
There were types with colourful names like, ‘Oku Onoura’, ‘Benjamin
Zepheniah’ and ‘Muta Baruka’. One of the founders of this movement
was without any doubt, ‘Linton Kwesi Johnson’, on this here record
he was still performing under the name ‘Poet and the Roots’. ‘Dread
Beat an’ Blood’, is a poetic collection of 8 protestsongs.
An LP I played thousands of times !tracks;

Now here is something very special, I need to make something clear.
Since this fine music is unavailable in most parts of the world, I am
making a big exeption, normally I would not post a CD which might
still be in the stores, Global Groove doesn’t want to hurt anybody’s
business. Come on Fuentes, spread this material around ! Europe,
Asia and other parts o.t.w. want this too ! Super nice compilation
of rare Colombian recordings, Discos Fuentes’
vaults contain fantastic stuff.tracks;

I don’t have a year on this fine reggae album, early eighties would

Today I have a funpost ! In an hour or so, the European ‘Futbol’
(soccer) Championship in Austria and Switzerland is about to start.
For the occasion I thought it would be fun to post some music by
the two greatest soccerplayers of the previous century. ‘Pelé’ and
‘Cruyff’. I’d say Cruyff was a good second if we speak about soccer,
but if we speak about music, I am affraid he is far from that position.
Brazilians have a nature, they’re born with music in their vains. Pelé
comes in with a great Bossa composition, backed by ‘Sergio Mendes’,
what could go wrong ? World, please have mercy on Johan Cruyff
and us Dutch people, we don’t have that sunny way. What we do
have however, is a good sense of humour, Johan Cruyff surprises
us with this 1969 Dutch Carnaval number, once again there
is no comparison.tracks;

Another great find of this afternoon in Amsterdam,
‘Los Nemus del Pacifico’ is a very fine band from the Fuentes stable.
It is one big family at Fuentes studio’s. On bass and artistic direction,
Julio E.Estrada… yes ‘Fruko’. You can hear Fruko’s tide hand of
orchestral leadership running this session, very nice and tide indeed.tracks;
