This is my first African single, I bought it at the latest recordfair
in Utrecht, april this year. French dealers always bring great African stuff.
Only two tracks but two great ones.

Mbalax they call it back in Senegal and Youssou N’Dour is inventing it
on this LP. Do it like this,
Stand in the middle of your room, turn up the volume, close your
eyes, start # 1 and let the warm flow of Youssou’s sound
come over you, those drums, his voice, that baseline……

Do you emember this one Zeca ?
When I visited the Great Zecalouro of
Loronix some time ago,
he gave me this LP, now it’s time to give it back to Zeca and to all
you Global Groovers around the world.
This is Samba from Carnaval 1976 and a real dance album.
I want to recommend this one to all sambalovers, it’s a killer.
Thank you Zecalouro for rocking !

P.S. I called this group Rubens da Mangueira e Amigos, because
Rubens is the only one I am sure of to sing on this LP.
I think to hear some well known musicians but no credits are given
so I’d rather don’t guess !

Another great Johnny Pacheco LP, from 1973 on Fania.
This copy has been played almost too often, unfortunately it has
a little hiss and track # 7 starts with a crack and a jump, but still
I didn’t want to withhold this beautiful album from you. ’10 Great
Years’, from ’63 to ’73, Johnny Pacheco comes in with a nice
selection of hits from between those years. Singers are, like on
many of Pacheco’s albums, ‘Pete ‘El Conde’ Rodriguez’, and
Chivirico Davila. I quote the backcover;
” For the past 10 years, Johnny Pacheco has been one of the biggest
influences in Latin Music.
A favorite with both the Latino and the
American dancing public since his rise to national fame with the
Pachanga, Johnny keeps you moving and swinging with his
‘tipico’ rhythms. In this collectors album, you will be able
to sample some of the hit tunes which have delighted
people over the past 10 years.”
