Oh yes, here we finally go with volume four, we already had
vols. 1,2 and 5. That leaves vols. 3 and then 6 until 10. I will
still have to find the last five. These guys are called three
kings and that suits them, they are truly the finest if it comes
to vallenato. If you are lover of the genre you’ll understand.
I’ll post vol. 3 one of these days, they do have light crackling
noises but being from the sixties that is not very strange.
Get them and share them as usual..

Deze jongens worden met recht drie koningen genoemd, zij
zijn het neusje van de zalm op vallenato gebied. Wie net als
ik liedhebber van het genre is zal snappen wat ik bedoel. Ze
kraken lichtjes maar dat hoort erbij, ze stammen uit de 60’s
en er zijn trouwens wel tien volumes in totaal. 6 t/m 10 moet
ik nog even zien te vinden. luister en geniet ervan..

It is over five years ago this Nigerian passed by here. Nowadays
we have so much talk about threatening of upcoming war, it can’t
hurt to honour a band called International Peacemakers. From 1977,
exactly 40 years ago, today we have Ali Chukwuma and his Peacemakers
International visiting us. I’d say give it a load of spins and let’s
hope it has the desirable effect..

Het is alweer meer dan vijf jaar geleden dat deze Nigeriaan
hier langs kwam. Met alle oorlogsdreiging die we momenteel
kennen, kan het geen kwaad een band te eren die de Internationale
Vredestichters heet. Uit 1977 alweer, op de kop af 40 jaar geleden,
hebben we vandaag Ali Chukwuma and his Peacemakers International.
Draai hem grijs en dan maar hopen dat het effekt heeft..

Again we have an album by Bozi Boziana & Anti Choc and
again we don’t find any relevant info at the sleeve. No year
of release, no album title to search for and on the world wide
web I can’t seem to find anything as well. One way or the other,
we do have the music to listen to which is the most important part.

Heden nogmaals een plaatje met Bozi Boziana en Anti Choc. Tevens
nogmaals een hoes die geen snars aan info biedt, geen titel om naar
te zoeken, geen jaar van uitgave en op het web kan ik ook al niets
vinden. Dat maakt echter allemaal niet uit want wat we wel hebben
is het aller belangrijkste, namelijk de muziek om naar te luisteren..

If you’re busy making posts with music from so many different
countries, you start dreaming about travelling around. Until now
I don’t have enough time for real big journeys but that will change
some day soon. Many of the countries from which I bring music are
on my wishlist to visit. Colombia, Panama, Ghana, Brasil, Carribbeans,
the country Mike Ejeagha’s from however is not one of them.
Nice tunes but certainly no travell destiny..

Als je zo bezig bent met muziek uit allerlei windstreken krijg
je zin om te reizen. Helaas heb ik er nog wat weinig tijd voor
maar dat gaat op een mooie dag veranderen. Veel van de landen
waar de mooiste muziek vandaan komt staan op mijn reis wens
en verlanglijstje. Colombia, Panama, Ghana, Brazilië, Caribisch
gebied, Cuba, het land wat we vandaag aanboren echter is er
een dat ik liever mijd. Lekkere muziek maar
geen reis bestemming..

album did not provide a whole lot of information, to learn

An oldie from Guadeloupe 1968 today. Les Vikings play several styles
on this album, Cadence Rampa, Tumbélé and Compas among others.
Mostly instrumental but with some vocal parts here and there.
Sweet summer atmosphere that makes us very happy..

Vandaag een oudje uit 1968 Guadeloupe. Les Vikings spelen hier
diverse stijlen, Cadence Rampa, Tumbélé en Compas oneder andere.
Grotendeels instrumentaal maar ook wel wat vokale flarden zo hier en
daar. lekker zomers spul waar we blij van worden..

Being a record collector one knows times in which we do
not find a lot or we’re simply busy doing other things. One
also experience periods however in which we find so many
wonderful records there’s hardly enough time to listen to it
all. On those moments I use to store the records nicely on
category and alphabet so there is something to discover
in a later stage. This is how I stumbled upon this here
slice of Nigerian vinyl today. A sheer beauty you
better get and play straight away, enjoy doing so..

Soms koop je als vinyl verzamelaar een tijd lang niet veel,
gewoonweg omdat je druk bent met andere dingen of omdat
je niet zo veel tegen komt. Er zijn echter ook tijden dat je zo
veel moois vindt, dat je er nauwelijks tegenaan kunt luisteren.
Op zulke momenten zet je de platen netjes op categorie en op
alfabet in de kast en heb je later nog iets te ontdekken. Zo kwam
ik vandaag plots langs deze bijna vergeten elpee. Een beauty en
in top conditie. Luister snel, wat een buitenkansje weer..

Something I noticed after years of listening to music,
and aspecially songs, is, the sound of voices and wether
one likes a voice, is a very personal thing. Thousands of people
love the voice of Neil Diamond for instance, I can’t stand the man.
Take Aster Aweke, many many are fund of her voice, not me.
No, if you ask me, sweet voices are nice but I especially love
a matured , old voice with some rough edges, like this guy.
Juancho Polo Valencia is a huge idol of mine. ..and how
about you, can you dig this..?

Iets wat me in al die jaren muziek, en liefst liedjes, luisteren
is opgevallen, is dat stemgeluid, en of een stem je ligt, iets
heel persoonlijks is. De één loopt weg met de stem van bv.
Neil Diamond, persoonlijk kan ik de man niet verdragen.
Iemand als Aster Aweke, ik trek haar stem voor geen meter
terwijl hele volksstammen er voor warmlopen. Nee, geef
mij maar oude mannetjes met krakend geluid, zoetgevooist
is mooi maar doorleefd als Juancho Polo Valencia, daar loop
ik dan weer warm voor. En jij, wat vind jij ervan ..?
