King Kester Emeneya or Emeneya Emerite was here on two
earlier occasions and found some very happy listeners. One
of the other albums has a frontsleeve similar with the one we
have today. It is ‘Kimpiatu’. You may find it in the link below.
King Kester was part of Papa Wemba’s group Viva la Musica
in the seventies. He started Victoria Eleison in 1982. This LP
was originally released on Editions Vévé as Wabelo, this
version on Rythmes et Musique is titled ‘Presser Te’.

bij twee eerdere gelegenheden en vond al vele blije luisteraars.
Een van die twee had een hoes met hetzelfde plaatje als deze,
het betreft ‘Kimpiatu’. Je vind hem in onderstaande link. King

Great minds think alike they say, hihi, it is a funny coincidence.
I just found out that Jillem, the host of Holland Tunnel Dive, and
myself are exploring the same corner of Congolese music. It is no
contest of course. We just complete each other. I have tried to leave
comments at his great page but can’t seem to find out how to do this.
Let me know Jillem. The Verckys stable brought forth so many won-
derful artists. Manuaku Waku is just one of many. This one is from
1983. Solid listening materal I’d say, enjoy ..

Great minds think alike zeggen ze, hihi, het is heel toevallig. Ik ontdek
zojuist dat Jillem, de host van Holland Tunnel Dive, en ik dezelfde hoek
van de Congolese muziek aan het verdiepen zijn. Het is natuurlijk geen
wedstrijd, we vullen elkaar mooi aan zo. Ik heb al diverse malen gepro-
beerd een berichtje bij hem achter te laten maar kan niet ontdekken
hoe, laat me dat eens weten Jillem. De Verckys stallen hebben talloze
artiesten voort gebracht waarvan deze Manuaku Waku er slechts een is.
Dit album is uit 1983. Degelijk luister materiaal, geniet ervan ..

Goedemorgen groevers, wat hebben we vandaag ? Een tamelijk
zeldzame plaat met Kadima en Les As de Brazzaville. Veel is er over
deze artiest niet te vinden. We hebben slechts een klein stukje liner
notes op de achterkant van dit album. Het verscheen op het Franc-
Afrique label uit Kenya. Geen jaar van uitgifte bekend. Één ding weten
we wel zeker, dit is een verdomd goeie plaat. Van begin tot eind zeer
te genieten. De hoes is gehavend maar het vinyl is in top conditie.
Hier volgt een snelle vertaling van de liner notes ;

Kadima, 3 lettergrepen – naam gemakkelijk te onthouden dus melodieën
gemakkelijk te neuriën – uiteraard! Kadima, een carrièrediplomaat die zich
tijdens zijn daluren wijdt aan deze afleiding die de Congolezen zo dierbaar is,
presenteert je op zijn eerste album 4 pakkende titels waaraan hij ontelbare
uren werk heeft besteed. Je zult vooral in Congo ya Afica waarderen dat hij
zingt over liefde voor zijn land, voor Afrika en nostalgie te midden van
een pakkend ritme, allemaal op schema en zeer dansbaar.

Good morning groovers, what do we have for you today ? A quite rare
record with Kadima and Les As de Brazzaville. Not much info is available
about this artist. We just have the liner notes from the backsleeve of this
album. It appeared on the FrancAfrique label from Kenya. No year of release
known. One thing we do know though, this is a damn good album, very en-
joyable from beginning to end. Its sleeve is worn out but the vinyl is in very
good condition. Here’s a quick translation of the liner notes;

Kadima, 3 syllables – name easy to remember so tunes easy to hum – obviously!
Kadima, a career diplomat who, during his off-peak hours, devotes himself to
this distraction so dear to the Congolese people. The music, he presents to you
on his first album contains 4 catchy titles on which he spent countless hours of
work. You will especially appreciate in ‘Congo ya Afica’ where he sings about the
love for his fatherland, for Africa and nostalgia in the middle of a catchy rhythm.
All together, nicely organised and very danceable.
