Begin jaren tachtig pakte Tchico zijn koffers, vertrok uit
Nigeria en trok verder naar Côte d’Ivoire om te werken met
Editions Maïkano alwaar deze plaat tot stand kwam. Op dit
album spelen Maître Dizzy Mandjeku, Dally Komoko, Lokassa
ya Mbongo, Ringo Moya en een aantal andere bijzondere
muzikanten aan zijn zijde. De hoes heeft het over 1982 en
het label over 1981, hoe dan ook, alweer veel luistergenot
met de man met de gouden stem..

Early eighties Tchico packed his suitcases, left Nigeria and
moved on to Côte d’Ivoire to work with Editions Maïkano
where this here record was produced. We hear Maître Dizzy
Mandjeku, Dally Kimoko, Lokassa ya Mbongo and Ringo
Moya and a number of other great musicians by his side.
The sleeve states it is from 1982 and the label 1981, one
way or the other, more listening pleasure guaranteed
by the man with the golden voice..

Goeiemorgen, vandaag hebben we een wat minder bekende plaat,
Youlou Mabiala, Franco’s schoonzoon, met de zangeres Judith Maïsso
en zijn band Kamikaze Loningisa op het label van Norbert Miab. Franco
gaf Gilbert Youlou Mabiala de naam ‘le Prince’ toen Youlou met
zijn dochter Helene Luambo, ook wel Mama Leni, trouwde. lees

Goodmorning, today we’ve got an lesser known album by le Prince
Youlou Mabiala, Franco’s son in law, with singer Judith Maïsso and
his group Kamikaze Loningisa on Norbert Miab’s label. It was franco
who crowned Gilbert Youlou Mabiala, ‘le Prince’ in the time he
married Franco’s daughter Helene Luambo, also known as Mama

Franco presenteert Lita Bembo Nkolo Kwanga. Lita Bembo
is bij de meeste bekend van zijn Orchestre Stukas maar deze
plaat verschijnt onder zijn eigen naam. De stevige cavacha
van ‘showman’ Lita Bembo spreekt enorm aan door de
uitgepakte sebene en Lita’s krachtige manier van zingen.
Los van de kraakjes, een absolute aanrader..

Gelukkig nieuw jaar allemaal mensen, we zijn weer op
een schone bladzijde beland, laten we deze nu eens met
louter mooie tekeningetjes bekladden, afgesproken ?
Voor de Nico addicts Mambo Pete en Reservatory maar
natuurlijk ook voor de andere liefhebbers heb ik hier nog
een bijzondere verzameling mooie Afrikaanse liedjes.
Oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in 1971 is dit de heruitgave
uit 1976. 40 jaar oud maar in prima staat, luister..

Altijd weer een feest als er een plaatje van Docteur Nico opduikt.
Dit is een van de platen die mijn Franse vriend uit Congo mee terug
bracht. Hij heeft hier en daar wat kleine kraakjes en dergelijke maar
dat mag de pret niet drukken. De dokter kan zich wel iets pemitteren.

Always a happy moment when another album by Docteur Nico shows
up. This is one of the records my French friend brought home from
his trip to Congo. It has some minor background noise but that won’t

Jean Serge Essous is volgens Sylvain Bemba de Congolese
artiest die het meest internationaal heeft gewerkt. Deze
plaat heeft hij ergens in het Caraibisch gebied opgenomen.
Waar precies is niet geheel duidelijk maar waarschijnlijk
op Martinique. Op drums horen we Claude Vamur, en verder
zijn er naast Essous, Jerry Malerani, Martino Samba en
Toroma Thoms, les Merry Guys. op het web heb ik niets
over dit album kunnen vinden. Het vijfde nummer
hebben we op de gelijknamige elpee wel reeds
eerder langs zien en horen komen..

Jean Serge Essous is the most international artist from
Congo if we believe Sylvain Bemba. This record must be
recorded somewhere in the Caraibbean, probably on
Martinique. On drums we hear Claude Vamur and

De winter is gisteren officieel begonnen in Nederland. Tegelijk
wil dat zeggen dat de kortste dag er weer op zit en we langzaam
weer de goede kant op gaan. De grootste koude staat nog wel
voor de deur dus is het zaak de warmte in de muziek te zoeken.
Met Celi Bitshu komen we er wel door, met zijn onvermoeibare
Machine a Tubes zal het zeker lukken, verwarm je er maar snel aan.

Yesterday, winter officially begon in the Netherlands. The same
moment we passed the shortest day and slowly go in the right
direction again. The hardest cold however is still ahead of us
so it’s inevitable and necessary to seek our warmth in music.
With Celi Bitshu we shall surely succeed, with his indefatigable
Machine a Tubes we’ll absolutely get there, warm yourself
rapidly and share it with your loved ones..

Één van m’n vaste contacten als het gaat om zeldzame Afrikaanse
platen ontmoet ik twee maal per jaar op de Utrechtse beurs. Hij is
niet lang geleden teruggekomen uit Congo met prachtige verhalen
en dito muziek. Ik was zo gelukkig deze zeldzame elpee van hem te
kunnen overnemen. Op Google kon ik hem niet in deze uitvoering
vinden. Johnny Bokelo Isenge’s Sandokan is wel te vinden maar op
platen in andere samenstelling. Luister en huiver..

One of my steady contacts if we speak of rare African records is
this French guy whose name I can’t reveal. We meet twice a year
at the Utrecht fair. He just got back from a voyage to Congo and
brought back some amazing stories and music. I was very lucky
he sold me this rare album by Johnny Bokelo Isenge. On Google
I managed to find Sandokan in a different compilation but not as
the one we have here. Great stuff, listen and agree..

Oldies but goodies, like this one,
usually have a little background noise.

De hoes is flink toegetakeld, randschade en er is op gekalkt
door een van de vorige eigenaren.Toch ben ik blij deze plaat
te hebben gevonden. Het is een tamelijk schaars opduikend
album op het Ghanese Essiebons label. Het stond op Google
ergens vermeld als solo project. Er moet ook nog een volume
2 zijn. Het openingsnummer hebben we al eerder gehoord op een
ander album maar ook in een andere versie. Het is onduidelijk
wie de andere artiesten op deze plaat zijn, als jij het weet
mag je het zeggen.. Grappig, de enige afbeelding die ik vond
was van mijn onlangs gevonden exemplaar check,

Its sleeve has quite some damage on the edges and one of the
former owners has written on it. Still I’m very happy to have
found this album. On Google it was listed somewhere as a solo
project. Their must also be a volume 2. The lp appears on the
Ghanaian Essiebons label and seems to be quite rare. We have
heard the opening song on another album but also in another
version if I’m correct. It is not entirely clear who are the
other performing artists, if you know, please tell us okay..
