Twee van de nummers zijn geschreven door Djuna Djanana,
een door Yenga Yenga en drie door Koffi Olomide. De cavacha
op dit album is uit 1978 en rockt er lekker op los. Nog zo’n elpee

Goeiemorgen, dit is er weer zo een. Langzaam zijn we de achterstand
aan het inlopen en wordt de ‘african 360.000’ collectie steeds competer.
Hier is nummer 141, er wachten er hier nog enkelen maar de spoeling
wordt dunner. Als ik me niet vergis horen we niet alleen een jonge
Pascal Rochereau maar ook Docteur Nico was van de partij. Altijd
even solide werk van deze oude Congolese helden.

Afrikaanse salsa ? Ja hoor, dat bestaat ook, bijna alsof het Cubanen
zijn. José Missamou laat het ons hier horen. Hij zong bij les Bantous
de la Capitale en deed ook diverse solo projecten. Op deze plaat wordt
hij bijgestaan door Ntesa Dalienst die ook nog met Franco heeft gewerkt.
Opgenomen in de studio van Verckys in Zaire en uitgebracht door Edddy
‘Son Consortium Mondial is dit een niet te missen stukje geschiedenis.

African salsa ? Yes sir, it does exist, almost like they are Cubans.
José Missamou shows us on this here album. He used to sing with
Les Bantous de la Capitale and also did various solo projects. On this
record he is accompanied by Ntesa Dalienst who used to work with
Franco’s OK jazz. Recorded in the studios of Verckys and released by
Eddy’Son Consortium Mondial, this is a piece of history you should not

Uit 1963 stammen de liedjes op deze’Merveilles du Passé’ die zelf is
uitgebracht in 1986. Franco et l’Orchestre OK Jazz kunnen niet stuk,
uit welk jaar de muziek ook komt, geniet van deze schijf heet vinyl..

Let’s continue with yet another piece in the ‘african 360.000 series’
puzzle. The songs on this ‘Merveilles du Passé’ are from 1963 while
the album itself was released in 1986. We can never hear enough of
Franco et l’Orchestre OK Jazz, no matter from what year it comes.

Eerst lijkt het allemaal iets te clean zogezegd maar als je even
verder luistert ontdek je de schoonheid van deze plaat. Deze
groep werkt met een rijtje van de meest fantastische stemmen
die Congo heeft voortgebracht. Carlyto Lassa, Malage de Lugendo
en Madilu System zijn niet de minsten, we kennen ze natuurlijk van
OK Jazz en Doudou Adoula komt van de Zaïko stal. Libabela is een
naam die ik even niet thuis weet te brengen, wellicht een van jullie.
Wie de muzikanten hier zijn is ook niet helemaal duidelijk, voel je
vrij ons met je kennis te verrijken. Luister snel naar deze schijf
met z’n vocale hoogstandjes dus..

At first it all seems a bit too clean but listening further one discovers
the sheer beauty of this record. This group works with some of the
most fantastic voices ever from Congo. Carlyto Lassa, Malage de
Lugendo and Madilu System are not the least, we know them from
OK Jazz of course and Doudou Adoula is from the Zaïko corner.
Libabela is a name I do not know, perhaps one of you. It is also
unclear who are the musicians here, please feel free to enrich
us with your knowledge. Listen to this slice of vocal tours

Goeiemorgen groevers, voor dat we doorschakelen naar andere
stromingen nog eentje dan. Dit is nummer 161 in de african serie.
Je ziet het al, liedjes uit 1963 van Nico, Rochereau, Dechaud en
Mizele. Ik weet niet zo goed wat ik er verder over moet zeggen
behalve dat ik zeker weet dat je ze niet zou willen missen.

De wens om op een mooie dag de ‘african 360.00 serie’ te
completeren leeft nog steeds voort hier op de Global Groove.
Net als gisteren hebben we er vandaag weer eentje die al een
tijd wachtte gelanceerd te worden. Het is nummer 125 in de serie
met twaalf liedjes van Franco’s OK Jazz uit de jaren 1959 tot en met
1962. Van zijn hand hebben we nog nooit een slecht nummer
gehoord. Met deze plaat komen weer een heel klein stapje dichterbij
het volbrengen van de wens. Van Franco valt nog veel te vinden en
ook van de african serie maar elke stap is er weer een. Geniet van
muzikanten als Mujos, Kwamy, Simarro, Piccolo, Isaac en Albino
om er maar een paar te noemen, plezier dus..

Here at the Global Groove the wish to complete the ‘african
360.000 series’ one fine day still exists. Another one waiting
to get posted is this no. 125 with songs of Franco’s OK Jazz
from the period between 1959 and 1962. We never heard
a bad song from the hand of ‘le grand mâitre’. With this lp
we are yet a little closer to the completion of both the series
and the works of the master. It’s a small step but like yester-
day’s it is a nice one. Enjoy listening to the voices of Mujos
Kwamy and Franco, the rhythm of Lutumba Simarro, the
bass of Piccolo and the saxophones of Isaac and
Albino just to name a few.

Er wachten nog steeds meerdere plaatjes in de ‘african’ 360.000
serie. Dit is er een van. Ik weet niet wat Docteur Nico zocht in
die tijd, rumbaatjes in Lingala, cha-cha’s in gebroken Spaans en
zelfs Engelstalige jerks allemaal dwars door elkaar maar wel heel
vermakelijk . In feite kan de man niet stuk, wat hij ook deed, de
kwaliteit loopt ervan af. Dus twijfel nu niet en haal snel binnen.

There are still several discs in the ‘african’ 360.00 series waiting
to get posted. This is another of them. I’m not sure what Docteur
Nico was searching for in those days, rumba’s in Lingala, Cha-cha’s
in broken Spanish and even English jerks, all mixed on this nice album.
What ever the good doctor did, it was all good. So do not hesitate and
get this record as we speak, Nicolas Kasanda and orchestre
African Fiesta in top condition..

Voor liefhebbers van kaarsrechte soukous hebben we vandaag
Kanda Bongo Man op het menu. Met het sprankelende gitaarwerk
van Diblo en Rigo Star en Domingo Salsero op de trommeltjes. De
vorige plaat van deze man trok gretige aftrek hier op de groef dus
ik ga er vanuit dat deze het ook weer goed zal doen. Als vanouds
rammelt de biet stevig door, tijd voor een dansje wellicht, als je
er van houdt dan. Voor een schijf van zo’n dertig jaar terug klinkt
ie als een klok dus daar hoef je het niet voor te laten. Ik zeg
pak ‘m en donder nummer vier weg. Op de halleluja na
een lekker stukje Afrikaans rammelwerk.
