A quite mysterious record here today. At first I didn’t
know what it was. Backsleeve says Douala Rep. Came-
roon and Made in Ghana. The music however sounds
like Congolese cavacha. Using the Shazam tool on my
smart phone I found out the first side consists of the
works of Kiamuangana Mateta or Verckys. Side two
does not give any results on Shazam. I just assume
these are also songs by Verckys. If any of you has
another suggestion, please give us the
information we need.

Een nogal mysterieuze plaat vandaag. Eerst wist ik niet
waar we hier mee te maken hadden. De achterkant van
de hoes spreekt over Douala Rep. Cameroon en Made in
Ghana. De muziek klinkt echter als Congolese cavacha.
Toen ik de Shazam tool erop los liet met m’n smart phone
bleek de eerste kant nummers van Kiamuangana Mateta
ofwel Verckys te bevatten. Kant twee gaf geen resultaten,
ik ben er maar vanuit gegaan dat dit ook nummers van
Verckys zijn. Als een van jullie anders denkt, deel
dan s.v.p. je mening met ons.

Goedemorgen groevers, na drie dagen oude Braziliaanse klanken
schakelen we door naar Congo’s jaren tachtig. Geen exact jaar
van uitgifte is hier bekend. Ook weet ik je over Fernand Mabala
weinig zinnigs te vertellen. Ik vond deze plaat in de kast en na ‘m
te beluisteren wist ik het. Dit is een artiest waar ik meer van zou
willen horen. Fijne vokalen, ritmes en gitaren. Al kraakt het wel
een beetje, deze is het waard nog een aantal keren te draaien.
De extra geluidjes zul je hier even voor lief moeten nemen ..

Good morning groovers, after three days of old Brazillian sounds
we turn to Congo’s eighties. No exact year of release is known for
this record. About Fernand Mabala I also can’t tell you anything
useful. I found this album on the shelf and after listening I knew,
this is an artist I would like to know more of. Nice vocals, rhythms
and guitars. Eventhough it has plenty background noise, this is an
elpee worth at least a couple of spins. The extra snap, crackle
and pops you’ll have to accept I’m afraid ..

From 1984 we have this album with one of the co-founders
of Zaïko Langa-Langa, Papa Wemba. I must admit I’m not the
man to tell you much about him. I do know this is a record

If we want to know some specifics concerning today’s post
we really need the help of you visitors. The story of Zaïko
Langa-Langa is quite complex and I am certainly not the man
to tell you all about it. On Discogs I could not find this album
for instance, only Youtube gives us a little info in its reactions.
It must be from 1984 and rare if we believe those. A tribute
to D.V. Muanda, 3rd episode of the Zéketé-Zéketé series ..

Om iets meer over de post van vandaag te weten te komen, hebben
we de hulp nodig van onze bezoekers. Het verhaal over Zaïko
Langa-Langa is tamelijk complex en ik ben niet de man die je er

for a long time. The backsleeve is quite damaged and its
overall quality could have been better. The music however

Door de jaren hadden we al aardig wat platen met, of gerelateerd
aan, Zaïko Langa-Langa, off-springs en platen van zangers of
mu- zikanten die met hen werkten. Deze is uit 1984 en heeft lang
gewacht. De hoes is achterop flink beschadigd en de hele kwaliteit
van het album had beter gekund. De muziek is daarentegen zeer
de moeite van het beluisteren waard. met zangers Bimi Ombale,
J.P. Buse, Mondiale & Adios Alemba. Muzikanten zijn Popolipo,

Today we’ve got us another album from Congo with
musicians we’ve seen on earlier occasions. Master
Mwana Congo was present but also Loubassou Denis
La Cloche, Passi-Jo and Le Grand Tchico among others.

For the lovers of Congolese music we’ve got another
record with Bumba Massa today. We had two albums
earlier, on one he was called Sammy instead of Bumba.
Bumba Massa used to work with the greatest of artists.
Names like Empompo Loway, Bavon Marie Marie, Johnny
Bokelo, Vicky Longomba, Franco Luambo, Pablo Lubudika
and Syran Mbenza are a few that make huge impression.
On this 1988 album, Bumba Massa appears with Lokassa
Ya Mbongo and Dally Kimoko among others. Although
mainly key-based (I am more fond of guitars myself)
Bumba Massa’s sweet voice make this a nice record ..

Voor de liefhebbers van Congolese muziek hebben we
nog een plaat met Bumba Massa vandaag. Eerder zagen
we reeds twee andere elpees, op één van de twee werd
Bumba ‘Sammy’ genoemd. Bumba Massa werkte met de
meest indrukwekkende atiesten in zijn leven. Namen als
Empompo Loway, Bavon Marie Marie, Johnny Bokelo,
Vicky Longomba, Franco Luambo, Pablo Lubudika en
Syran Mbenza zijn natuurlijk niet de minste. Op dit
album uit 1988 verschijnt Bumba met Lokassa Ya
Mbongo en Dally Kimoko o.a. Hoewel op deze
elpee voornamelijk synthesizers soleren (ik hou
zelf meer van gitaren) maakt Bumba Massa’s
mooie stem veel goed ..

De plaat van vandaag is een tikkeltje obscuur. Over Biyolo le Grand
kan ik niets vinden. Wel vinden we dat saxofonist Paul Mayitezo
ooit iets met Les Bantous des capitale heeft gedaan en ook bij
Verckys. Met percussionist Vicka Petelo vinden we een filmpje
op Youtube. Mix is gedaan door Martin Bakala die tevens op
albums met Mayaula Mayoni, Rochereau en Docteur Nico
heeft gewerkt, opgenomen bij I.A.D. Ook opgenomen bij
studio I.A.D. in Brazzaville is dit een aardig maar enigszins
mysterieus album.

Today’s record is a bit obscure. About Biyolo le Grand I can’t seem
to find anything. What I did find was that Saxophone player Paul
Mayitezo worked with Les Bantous de la Capitale and also with
Verckys. On Youtube we find something with percussionist Vicka
Petelo and engineer Martin Bakala from studio I.A.D. also worked
on albums with Mayaula Mayoni, Rochereau and Docteur Nico.
Also recorded at studio I.A.D. this a nice but
somewhat mysterious record ..
