ik vond er slechts twee, hoe dan ook, pak hem,
speel hem af en heb er plezier van..

This lp by the famous African Brothers band is quite special.
it is one of the few albums made in Nigeria, rare stuff ripped
especially for you and posted here tonight. The sleeve claims
it has three songs on the a-side, I only found two. One way or
the other, get it, play it and enjoy doing so..

Hij was al een paar keer eerder van de partij hier op de globel groef
maar dit is weer een pareltje hoor. Gewoon lèkker om naar te luisteren
als je even de wereld uit wilt zetten. Ook al versta ik er geen hout van,
deze muziek maakt me simpelweg blij. En dat is iets wat we wel kunnen
gebruiken in een tijd als deze waarin de wereld wel uit elkaar lijkt te
donderen. Misschien zelfs wel omdát ik er niets van versta..

He was around here at the global groove on a couple of earlier occasions
and the one we have today is another little pearl. Just delightful to listen
to if you want to turn the world off for a moment. Eventhough I do not
understand a word of it, the music simply makes me happy. And that
is something we can really use in a time like this in which our world
seems to be falling apart. Maybe it is becáuse I don’t understand..

Uit Ghana zijn dit de African Brothers International onder
leiding van Nana Kwame Ampadu I. We hebben er al heel
wat van hun hand gezien, het lijkt op een verhaal dat nooit
eindigt en dat is maar goed ook. Ik durf te zeggen dat dit een
van de beste groepen is die Ghana ooit heeft voortgebracht.
Deze reis heeft hij ook nog eens niemand minder dan Chief
Kofi Sammy meegebracht, hij doet de achtergrond vokalen
in de titelsong, luister naar ‘Oman Bo Adwo’..

From Ghana these are the African Brothers International
led by nana Kwame Ampadu I. We had quite some of their
albums already, it seems a never ending story and that is a
very good thing. I dare say this is one of the best bands
Ghana ever had. On this journey they also brought
with them the great Chief Kofi Sammy from
Okukuseku, he does backing vocals on the
title song, enjoy ‘Oman Bo Adwo’..

Ik kon hem nergens te koop vinden dus ben ervan uit gegaan dat

hoor ik dat graag, geniet van King Bruce & the Black Beats..

Volume één van Sikyi Highlife uit 1974 was een plaat die de hele wereld
zocht. Het duurde 15 jaar voordat Dr. K. Gyasi deel twee uitbracht. Ook
hier op de GG heeft het even geduurd voordat we met deze volume twee
op de proppen komen, vijf en een half jaar om precies te zijn. De elpees
zijn tamelijk verschillend en toch ook weer niet,
luister zelf en trek je conclusie..

Volume one of Sikyi Highlife from 1974 is an album very much in demand.
It took Dr. K. Gyasi 15 years to release this part two. Here at the GG it
also took quite some time, vife and a half year to be precise. The albums
are quite different from each other but similar too,
listen and make up your own mind..

Als ik goed geteld heb alweer de tiende Alex Konadu die
we hebben. Ik versta niets van de tekst natuurlijk maar
afgaande op de foto achterop de hoes moet dit een zeer
geestig en tegelijk treurig album zijn. Als je goed kijkt zie
je Alex een vrouw uit de auto helpen, ze zijn wezen shoppen
lijkt het. Hij zegt onder de foto; “Ik laat je zeker vallen als
je me zo slecht blijft behandelen.” lollig toch..

If I counted correctly this must be the 10th album by Alex
Konadu we have here. I do not understand the lyrics but
looking at the picture on the back I conclude this must be
a very funny and sad record the same time. If you look good
you can see Alex helping a woman getting out of his car. It
looks like they have been shopping. The line underneath it
says; “I will drop you definitely if you continue to treat me
in this wicked way.” Amusing don’t you think..?

Ja dat is wel een beetje jammer, hij kraakt van het begin tot
het eind. Toch is dit een plaatje, zo zeldzaam dat je hem niet
zult willen missen. Je komt ze niet erg vaak tegen dus twijfel
maar niet. E.T. Mensah & the Tempos Band met deze schijf
uit 1975 zal je collectie weer een beetje mooier maken..

It is a shame , yes that’s true, it’s noisy from beginning till
end. Still, this is a record you wouldn’t want to miss, so rare.
We do not find them a lot so better don’t hesitate. E.T. Men-
sah & the Tempos Band will make your collection a little
more complete with this tremendous disc from 1975..

De zwarte chinees is terug, hij was hier reeds op zeven eerdere
gelegenheden. Dit is de achtste maal dat hij ons bezoekt dus.
Dit plaatje was opgenomen in Nigeria zoals de titel reeds deed
vermoeden. J.A. Adofo is de grote leider van de City Boys, één
van de meest populaire Ghanese highlife bands op deze pagina.
De hoes en het label zijn het niet eens over a-kant en b-kant,
ik ben uitgegaan van het label..

The black chinese is back, he visited us on seven earlier occasions
so this is encounter number eight. J.A. Adofo is the great leader
of the City Boys, one of the most popular Ghanaian highlife bands
here at the global Groove. As the title already suggests this one
was recorded in Nigeria, volume two. Cover and label do not
agree on which is a-side and which b-side, I believe the label.

Na twee dagen niet thuis te zijn geweest kom ik er zojuist
achter dat de groove al sinds vrijdagochtend off line was.
Ga zeker eens mopperen bij de firma die mijn server beheert
want dit is niet leuk. Die gemiste dagen zijn niet goed te maken
en dat zit me dwars. Het enige wat ik kan doen is snel een tof
plaatje plaatsen zoals deze van Dr. Paa Bobo uit 1981, download
dus maar snel en luister lekker, groetjes van Moos..

Het schijnt aan een WordPress plugin te liggen en dus niet aan
de server. De RSS feeds plugin is tijdelijk uitgeschakeld om
uit te vinden of het daaraan ligt dat de server af en toe
uitvalt. Nogmaals, dit is tijdelijk, we komen er op terug.

After being away for two days, I just found out the Groove has
been off line since fridaymorning. I will certainly make a serious
complaint to the firm where I rent my server because I am not
amused by this. They can never make up for the missed days.
The only thing I can do to make up to you is posting a nice
highlife album like this one by Dr. Paa Bobo from 1981.
Get it quickly and listen, with kind regards, Moos..

It appears to be caused by a WordPress plugin and not by
the server itself. The Rss feeds plugin has been put on
hold for a while to find out if this causes the failure.
This a temporary measure so hang on, we’ll get back on it.

Ik kreeg het verzoek van Ryan om deze elpee te plaatsen. Hij heeft
geluk dat ik hem heb. Er is één ding jammer, de eerste groeven zijn
beschadigd dus ik heb hem een fade-start moeten geven waardoor
de eerste minuut er helaas niet opstaat. Verder is de plaat gelukkig
in redelijke staat. Ik ben er juist achter gekomen dat dit dezelfde
plaat is als die van Sammy Cropper, deze dus..die overigens in veel
betere staat verkeert, haha check..

I received a request from Ryan to post this album. he is lucky I have
it. One thing is a shame however, the first bit is quite bad so I had to
give it a fade-start. because of that we miss the first minute of the
record. For the rest it is in reasonable condition, a few crackles and
pops. this is the same record I just found out, in better quality however..
Much better hihi, better check out..
