Colombian salsa would not have been the same without the
music of the Latin Brothers. Still with Joe Arroyo this 1976
album is one that stands out for the sound we all
love. The trombones add rough edges, sweet
background vocals and the swell producing by
Mario Rincon Parra make this album a true
listening pleasure, check it out yourself..tracks;
01 – Te encontre
02 – Dudando
03 – Dos caminos
04 – Antioqueñita
05 – Canto por no llorar
06 – Ya no hay amor
07 – Patrona de los reclusos
08 – Quiero ser tu vida
09 – Te fuiste a cali

Another red cover, it is pure coincidence. Lisandro Meza
y su Conjunto are here. From the very beginning of this
album we can hear how much fun these guys were having.
Lisandro was part of the famous Corraleros de Majagual
since 1962 when he was 23 years of age. Born in 1939 in
Corozal, Lisandro recorded some 110 albums of which we
have this one today. It is from 1974 and contains golpe,
vallenato, Paseo, puya, rumbita and merengue.
I am a fan since I first heard his work. Don’t
hesitate, get it and spread it now..tracks;
01 – La estaca
02 – El dios cantor
03 – Donde esta ruben
04 – La flor de villanueva
05 – La contienda
06 – A emilianito

Is that a sweet voice or what ? Choc Stars are here with
Carlito, Roxy Tsimpaka, Defao..after posting the dusty
African Fiesta album I wanted to make up with one
that sounds clean and fresh. Four great songs that start
with ‘Premier Amour’, not my first love but it’s a jewel.
Listen and agree, sweeet stuff..tracks;
01 – Premier amour
02 – Meditation
03 – Celio
04 – Na ndimi na niokuamaPosted by Moosat 6:24 PMCategories

An obscure slice of vinyl here today. We had quite some
records with Docteur Nico and African Fiesta. This one
however on Music Star contains some known and some
lesser known tracks. The album’s sleeve does not give one
letter of info so we’d have to guess about the vocal parts
and such. I’m sure Rochereau is there on a couple of songs
but have no idea about the others. Maybe one of you can
enlighten us and give some additional information.
Meantime listen to this somewhat dusty disc..tracks;
01 – Paquita
02 – Eso querida
03 – Connaissance
04 – Mangui
05 – Bougie ya motema
06 – Quiere mida
07 – Cashita
08 – JerkPosted by Moosat 8:05 AM - Sunday July 5, 2015
It does have a couple of pops and some scratches,
somewhere over the years it has lost a corner of it’s sleeve.
This album by the great I.K. Dairo has made a journey before
ending up with us. Baba Aladura was his nickname, the very
popular I.K. Dairo played guitar, acordeon and talking drum.
He called his juju ‘ashiko music’ like it used to be called in the
past. This is volume two to begin with, I’ll post the first volume
some time later. Enjoy listening to I.K. Dairo & his Blue Spots
and don’t forget to find the other seven I.K. Dairo lp’s..tracks;
01 – Okin omo ni
02 – Adupe baba, oseun
03 – Omo owa ijesha
04 – Talo ba mi ri
05 – Labondo
06 – Omo alaro 1972Posted by Moosat 8:34 AMCategories

This saturday the fourth of july weather predictions say it is going to
be the hottest day in history. With expected temperatures of more
than forty degrees it has never been so hot before. At least since the
beginning of measurements that is. The highest temperature ever
measured in the Netherlands was 38,6° C in 1944. Hang in there
everybody. What can we do.. ? ..at least listen to some
mellow summer tunes like this, let’s see..One of our Colombian visitors told me the music of Toto Nécessité
is very much in demand in Cartagena. He asked for this here record.
I can imagine for this is a hot slice of Haïtian vinyl. Toto’s sound is
very entertaining and a mellow listen, not too fast, just right for
a hot summer day like this one. Enjoy..tracks;
01 – An ba besmint
02 – Soso
03 – Pamela
04 – La vie new york
05 – Coq
06 – Mon compe
07 – O seigneur
08 – GiselePosted by Moosat 10:22 AM - Wednesday July 1, 2015
Some visitor told me our GG is very plane and does
not give a whole lot of information about artists and
their works. It’s true, we don’t, but that is exactly the
idea. It is meant just this way. I’m sure you know, it’s
like radiostations where they keep talking like mad and
put listening to music second place. Very annoying to my
opinion. Lots of bloggers love to hear themselves blabbering
about their content as well. Here at the global groove we
put music up front, listen if you want and form your own
opinion about it. What have we got today?
Let’s see..Do you remember the works of Ramito, ‘el Cantor de
la Montaña’ ? We had a bunch of his albums but it’s
been a while since the last one. Jibaro from Puerto
Rico is sparkling string driven latin, very energetic
and up tempo. The songs are mostly patriottic
but breath a lot of happiness. On this album
Ramito is accompanied by Nieves Quintero
y sus Campesinos. Hope U like’m like
I do, get & spread ..tracks;
01 – Puerto Rico esta acabando
02 – Nada por nada
03 – Los timidos no pagan
04 – En mi viejo san juan
05 – Bailala
06 – Parrandeando
07 – Mi ultimo poema
08 – Ahora seremos felices
09 – El cautivo

He was crowned King of Vallenato in 1975, ‘el Pequeno Gigante’,
the little giant, born july 20, 1936 in Chochó (Sucre). After participating
8 times, starting from 1968, he won the prestigious festival in 1975.
Once part of the famous group Los Corraleros de Majagual, he made
some 32 lp’s. Part from hits like ‘Adiós Maria’, ‘la Coquetona’ and
‘los Miles Trabajos’ his greatest work was ‘la Colegiala’. The album
we have today is his coronation album. What I do not understand
is the backsleeve says 1974, probably a printing error ’cause the
label is correct. Anyway, enjoy these twelve songs despite
the hum it carries. Get it & spread it..tracks;
01 – Que traiga que no lleve
02 – Guarare en barranquilla
03 – Desamparada
04 – Me olvido
05 – Linda sucreñita
06 – Por ti luchare

10 – Adiós maria
11 – Cariñito
12 – La margentinaPosted by Moosat 8:46 AM - Sunday June 28, 2015
One of Franco’s better albums was waiting long time to find
it’s way to you. Other blogs have posted it already but it can’t
remain absent here. Some say it’s from 1984 others say 1985
one way or the other it is a joy listening to it. So finally we’ve
got Franco et le T.P.O.K. Jazz a l’Ancienne Belgique with on
guitar, Franco, Gerry Dialungana, Gégé Mangaya and Mpuidi
Deca. Vocals, Madilu System and Josky Kiambukuta..tracks;
