Thanks to the great Zecalouro of the Loronix Brazillian music
blog, that unfortunately stopped years ago, we are able to
listen to this nice record with Alberto Mota e seu Conjunto.
It concerns samba from 1963, a little jazzy, but just good.

Dankzij vriend Zecalouro van het Braziliaanse muziekblog

naar deze fijne plaat met Alberto Mota e seu Conjunto luis-
teren. Het betreft samba uit 1963, een beetje jazzy, maar

Alberto Pacheco, geboren in Barranquilla, vestigde zich
in Valledupar waar zijn muzikale carrière zich ontvouwde.
Hij leerde accordeon spelen van José maria Peñaranda.
Alberto werd de winnaar van het 4de Festival de la Leyenda
Vallenata in 1971. Tweede was toen ‘el Pollo Vallenata’,
Luis Enrique Martinez. De jury bestond uit José Barros,
Alejo Durán en Antonio maria Peñaloza. Vooral pijnlijk
was het voor Luis Enrique Martinez wiens vriend Alejo Durán
tegen hem stemde. Dit is een tribuut album uit 1983, vlak
na zijn dood. Alberto Pacheco oveleed aan een hart infarct ..

where his musical career unfolded. He was taught to play
accordion by José maria Peñaranda. Alberto was chosen King
Vallenato on the 4th Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata in 1971.

This delightful slice of Senegalese vinyl has no year of

Today we celebrate our fourteenth anniversary with you and
an album by Franco lee Ezute and his Harmony Kings Int. Band.
My choice was inspired by Jillem’s post at HTD yesterday. A few
links point to other records. On side one of this elpee we sadly
find some nasty pops, a shame, but I still wanted to post it, such
nice music. This album from 1994 must be one of (if not) his latest
records, age 55 years. Franco Lee Ezute only became 64. Quite
a lot of information about him on Bandcamp. Enjoy listening ..

Vandaag vieren we de 14de verjaardag van de Global Groove met
jou en met deze plaat van Franco Lee Ezute and his Harmony Kings
Int. Band. De keuze is geïnspireerd door Jillem’s post op HTD gis-
teren. Enkele links wijzen je naar andere platen. Op de eerste kant
van dit album vinden we helaas een paar hinderlijke ‘pops’, ik wilde
hem toch posten, zulke fijne muziek. Deze plaat uit 1994 is een van
(zoniet) z’n laatste, op 55 jarige leeftijd. Hij werd slechts 64. Aardig
wat info over Franco Lee vinden we op Bandcamp, luister ..

Goeiemorgen, gisteren stond er op Holland Tunnel Dive een
treurig bericht. Jillem vertelde ons dat zijn Zippyshare pagina
er over een maand mee op zou houden, download snel wat je
nog wil voor het te laat is. Vandaag is dat bericht weer weg en
vervangen door ‘Miracle at HTD !‘. Ik weet niet zeker wat dit in-
houdt. Beste Jillem, zou je ons alsjeblieft willen vertellen wat
er nu aan de hand is. Je volgers horen graag iets van je !

This is our first meeting with Idowu Animasawun and his
Lisabi International. His juju is quite psychadelic, poppy
guitars and percussion. At first I thought ‘apola’ was
another style of music, but no, Apola is a place in Nigeria
and the music is Yoruba Juju. Still learning all the time.
I kinda like this album, its sound, its artwork, all good ..

Dit is vandaag het eerste treffen met Idowu Animasawun
and his Lisabi International. Zijn juju is tamelijk psychadelisch,
met z’n trippy gitaren en percussie. Eerst dacht ik dat apola
een muziek stijl was, maar nee, het is een plaats in Nigeria
en de muziek is Yoruba Juju. Nooit uitgeleerd. Ik val behoorlijk
voor deze plaat, z’n geluid, z’n kunstige hoes, allemaal mooi ..
