Pepsis Sound Fiesta. As they promise in their name, a true
sound party emerges when listening to this record from 1977.

plaat. Je krijgt de achtergrond geluiden er zo bij. Op

en zijn Moonshine Dance Band, luister ..

Not much to find on this album, no year of release
for instance. It is said to be a compilation record.
The vinyl looks clean, but sounds a bit dusty. Jean
Serge Essous appears here with les Bantous de la
Capitale. Part from the (pity) noise we find a bunch
of very nice songs, enjoy listening anyway ..

Online vond ik niet veel over deze plaat, geen jaar
van uitgifte bijvoorbeeld. Het moet een compilatie
album zijn. Het vinyl ziet er mooi schoon uit, maar
helaas klinkt hij behoorlijk stoffig. Jean Serge Essous
speelt hier met Les Bantous de la Captale. Buiten
de jammere bijgeluiden vinden we hier een rijtje
vrij mooie nummers. Evengoed dus lekker luisteren ..

Good morning, it has taken some time, but from today the GG
is ready to get back on schedule. I’ve moved to another house
and all my records are finally back from the storage facility and
in my new record room. Very happy with the possibility of having
all the records together. I’ll be posting on a more regular basis

Let’s start with another record by Haïtian band ‘Bossa Combo’.
It is from 1976 when they were some seven years on the way.
Quite an entertaining record from one of the most popular
groups from that era. Listen with pleasure again ..

Goeiemorgen, het heeft even geduurd, maar vanaf vandaag is
de GG weer terug op schema. Na de verhuizing zijn al m’n platen
weer terug uit de opslag en staan netjes in de nieuwe platenkamer.
Heel blij om alles nu bij elkaar te hebben. Ik zal nu weer met regel-
maat met nieuwe posts verschijnen, blijf erbij en zegt het voort ..

Om te beginnen nog zo’n fijn compas album met ‘Bossa Combo’.
Deze is uit 1976 toen de groep zo’n zeven jaar onderweg was.
Tamelijk onderhoudende plaat van een van de meest populaire
bands uit die periode. Luister weer met plezier ..

Good morning, as I told you, all my records are in storage for a while.
Therefore I am now posting an album from my digital archive. It is one
that was sent to me by a friend. No tags as you are used to find here,
but nevertheless a great record. No year of release is known.
Solid listening with Papa Noel who got his name for being
born on Christmas day 1940 ..
P.S. I think we hear Carlito on track #2.

Goeiemorgen, zoals gezegd zijn al mijn elpees momenteel in de opslag.
Daarom post ik vandaag een plaat uit mijn digitale archief. Deze is me
ooit door een vriend gestuurd, geen tags zoals je hier gewend bent,
maar een heerlijk album. Geen jaar van uitgifte is van deze bekend.
Wat we wel hebben is een degelijke luister ervaring met Papa
Noel die z’n naam kreeg omdat hij is geboren op
Kerstdag 1940 ..

Due to the fact I’m in the middle of moving house you must

post this awesome samba album with Alcione from 1975.
Alcione’s voice is one of the strongest in the field. We had a
couple of her records already and this one ads yet another
to her discography here at the Global Groove,

Damon Albarn with Afel Bocoum, Toumani Diabate and others.
We know Damon from Blur and the Gorillaz of course. This cd
is a mixture of electronic music and more Traditional Malian
sounds. Something different for a change, enjoy listening ..

By the end of the eighties there was a revival of jazzy grooves
on the Brittish ‘Acid Jazz’ label. It released jazz, street-soul, funk,
jazzrap, hiphop, retro-kitch and so. Founded by Gilles Peterson
and Eddie Piller. Later Gilles Peterson started the Talking Loud label.
This is one of the first releases under the name Totally Wired. A bunch
of compilations followed. It was specially made for the Club Dancing
Scene, but we used to play it a lot in our local coffeeshop too. Our
public loved it. soulful, funky jazzy, wild stuff ..

Tegen het eind van de jaren tachtig was er een opleving van jazzy
grooves op het Britse ‘Acid Jazz’ label. Ze brachten jazz, street-soul,
funk, jazzrap, hiphop, retro-kitch en dergelijke. Opgericht door Gilles

While packing my cd’s for storage as well I ripped this
fine album for you. Jovelina Pérola Negra (the black pearl,
nothing to do with Pirates of the Caribbean) was known by
her deep and powerful voice. Her samba, pagode was rewarded
several times. She died way too young at only 54. Jovelina was
quite late in her succes and couldn’t leave her kids the wealth
she wished for. What a voice, so warm and strong ..

Terwijl ik m’n cd’s aan het inpakken was om ook te verhuizen
heb ik deze nog even voor je geripped. Jovelina Pérola Negra (de
zwarte parel) was geliefd om haar diepe en krachtige stemgeluid.
Haar samba, pagode viel verschillende keren in de prijzen en terecht.
Wat een warme sterke stem. Jovelina stierf aan een hartaanval op 54
jarige leeftijd, veel te jong. Door haar vrij late succes lukte het haar niet
haar kinderen in luxe achter te laten, iets wat ze graag wilde bereiken ..
