Goedemorgen groevers, de afgelopen week zijn we in een
noodtempo geschakeld van hartje winter naar lente. Vroor
het vorige week zondag nog 14º Celsius, vandaag loopt het
quick in sommige delen van het land op tot 18º. Een verschil
van ruim 30 graden. Ik ben er niet rouwig om …

Vandaag vinden we deze prachtige oude Colombiaanse plaat
met Lisandro Meza. Het was een delicaat karwei om hem te
registreren. Er zat, zoals vaak bij dit soort albums, zo’n plastic
beschermhoes omheen die helemaal grauw was geworden
door de jaren. Om de hoes fatsoenlijk te kunnen fotograferen
moest ik deze verwijderen. Het papier van de originele binnen-
kant was echter zo kwetsbaar dat er kleine stukjes af vielen.
Het vinyl was vies, maar na een schoonmaakbeurt was hij
behoorlijk afspeelbaar. Dit is nog zo’n dikke zware plaat
met het oude gele label van Discos Fuentes, alle
moeite van de operatie dik waard, luister ..

Good morning groovers, in the past week the Netherlands
changed weather from winter to spring. Last sunday we had
some minus 14º Celsius, today the mercury moves up to a
temperature of some 18º in certain parts. A difference
of over 30 degrees. It does not make me very sad ;-)

Today we find this wonderful old Colombian record with
Lisandro Meza and his Conjunto. It was a delicate job to re-
gistrate it. There was, like often with this type of albums,
a plastic protection sleeve around it which had gotten com-
pletely grey over the years. To be able to fotograph it decently
I had to remove it. The paper original inside was so thin and
fragile, little pieces started to fall off. Then, I had to clean the
actual vinyl of the record. Fortunately, after this, it played
fairly well. This is such a heavy, thick slice of vinyl with the
old yellow label of Discos Fuentes, listen ..

Pedro Salcedo schreef meer dan 1000 songs in zijn tijd.
Hij was de vader van Willie Salcedo over wie wèl een
pagina op Wikipedia bestaat. Pedro’s composities
werden door veel Colombiaanse bands gespeeld.
Vreemd genoeg is over hem weinig te vinden op
het web. Het beroemde ‘La Pollera Colorá’ was
van zijn hand. Uit welk jaar deze plaat stamt
is onduidelijk. Diverse fijne Tropical

Gisteren een album met Conjunto A Voz do Morro uit 1965,
vandaag een plaat met twee van de zes uit die groep, Paulinho
da Viola en Elton Medeiros, een jaar later, dus uit 1966. Wederom
18 mooie akoestische nummers, violão, cavaquinho, trombone,
ik hou ervan. Een aantal van de liedjes zit aan elkaar vast dus
komen we tot 11 i.p.v. 18 in de file. Lekker
zondag’s luisterwerk ..

Yesterday we had an album with Conjunto A Voz do Morro from
1965, today a record with two of the six artists from this group.
This one was recorded one year later in 1966. Once again a col-
lection of 18 nice acoustic tracks, violão, cavaquinho, trombone,
I love it. Some of the songs are melted together so you’ll find
only 11 in the file, sweet sunday listening ..

Conjunto A Voz de Morro started out way back in 1965 with
this mellow acoustic samba album. They were Paulinho da Viola,
Zá Keti, Elton Medeiros, Jair ‘do Cavaquinho’ Costa, Anescarzinho,
Nelson Sargento and José da Cruz. We had several solo albums of
some of these men in a later stage of their careers. Find the links

Conjunto A Voz do Morro begon zijn loopbaan lang geleden, in
1965, met dit mellow akoestische samba album. Ze bestonden
uit Paulinho da Viola, Zá Keti, Elton Medeiros, Jair ‘do Cavaquin-
ho’ Costa, Anescarzinho, Nelson Sargento en José da Cruz. We
zagen al van enige van deze jongens solo platen uit latere jaren,
vind de links erheen hieronder. Nu eerst een stap van 56 jaar
terug in de tijd en eens luisteren naar dit fijne samba album.

De menselijke geest is een vreemd iets. Hoe vaak het me
niet gebeurt dat er ‘s nachts muziekjes en bijbehorende
muzikanten door m’n hoofd spoken. Soms komt dat door-
dat je, de avond of dag ervoor, iets gehoord hebt. Soms ook
zijn het dingen zoals deze. De plaat die ik vandaag post is
er een die ik in geen jaren beluisterd had. En toch komt ie
dan op een of andere manier in het brein naar voren. Jim
Capaldi was een van de leden van Traffic. In mijn ochtend
dromen kwamen hij en Steve Winwood vooral tevoorschijn.
Steve is op deze plaat ook van de partij. Samen schreven zij

The human mind is a strange thing. How often it happens
to me that I dream of certain music and the musicians con-
cerned. Sometimes it is because you have heard something
the night or day before. But it also occurs it concerns a record
like the one we have here. A record that I had not listened to
for ages. Still it pops up in your mind somehow. Jim Capaldi
was one of the original members of the band Traffic. In my
morning dreams he and Steve Winwood were mainly there.
Steve is also present on this album. Together they wrote
the majority of Traffic’s songs. Read more about the

‘Acordeons that shook the world’ are, as from many other countries,
very much present in the music of Lesotho. Lesotho is a country
completely surrounded by South Africa and this shows in its happy
sounding music. We had an album by Puseletso Seema in april,
2010. Another one was ‘Sheswe, The Sound of the Mines’.Today
we find this record with Tau ae Matsekha which should
mean ‘The Lion of Matsekha’, if I’m not mistaking. Exactly
what we need on a snowy day like this ..

Accordeons komen voor in de muziek uit vele landen en zijn ook
aanwezig in de heerlijke sound van Lesotho, een land dat volledig
wordt omsloten door Zuid Afrika. We horen de invloeden daarvan
duidelijk terug. We hadden in april van 2010 al eens een plaat uit
Lesotho met Puseletso Seema. Een andere was ‘Sheswe, The
Sound of the Mines’. Vandaag vinden we deze met Tau ea
Matsekha wat zoveel zou moeten betekenen als ‘De Leeuw
van Matsekha’, als ik me niet vergis. Precies wat we
nodig hebben op zo’n besneeuwde dag ..

Nederland kleurt volledig wit door de sneeuw vandaag, mooie
plaatjes levert dat altijd op. In de loop van de dag wordt er nog
veel meer verwacht met stevige windvlagen en een gevoels-
temperatuur van -15 º, het begin van een zeer koude week.
Lang geleden dat de winter ons dit bracht .. wat doen we
om wat warmte te realiseren ? Afrikaanse muziek
is op deze zondag de ultieme oplossing ..

De muzikanten van Gëstu de Dakar werken op dit album samen
met enkele kopstukken van Orchestre Ngewel en van Orchestre
Baobab en dat is goed te horen. In het bijzonder Jean Pierre Gomez
wordt door hen bedankt voor de prettige samenwerking. Prachtige
plaat met prachtige hoes, warm je er vandaag aan.

oude Aduna.blog zijn naam van hebben ..

The Netherlands are coloring white with snow today and that
always delivers beautiful images. During the rest of the day, much
more snow is expected, together with wind and a temperature that
feels like minus 15 degrees, the start of a very cold week. Long time
ago winter brought us this type of weather .. what to do to keep
us warm ? Maybe some African music will do the job ..

The musicians of Gëstu de Dakar work together with some big men
of Orchestre Ngewel and Orchestre Baobab on this album and that shows.
In particular Jean Pierre Gomez is receiving the thank you’s of the
members of this group for the fine collaboration. Beautiful
record and beautiful sleeve to warm you today.

Soms vind je een plaat die intrigeert, maar waar je niets
over weet of weet te vinden. Dit is er zo een. Liner notes
zeggen dat de componist Yande Codou is. Met zanger
Pape Mboup van Orchestre le Gorom die de nummers
in wolof zingt. De tracks vloeien in elkaar over dus
heb ik ze niet gescheiden deze rit. Het smaakt
zoals het kraakt, luister ..

Sometimes we find an intriguing album such as this one
about which you can’t say anything useful. This is such
a record. Liner notes say the music is composed by
Yande Codou. With singer Pape Mboup of Orchestre
le Gorom who sings in wolof. The tracks go over in
each other without break so I didn’t try to

Listening to Captain Beefheart in my car yesterday made me
record this album today. After a period of psychadelic and
experimental music, the captain returned to his own brand
of bluesrock. We had the groundbreaking ‘Trout Mask Replica’
and the more commercial ‘Unconditionally Guaranteed’ so far.
This record is more or less in the middle of those, both chrono-
logically as style-wise. I was still very young at this time in 1972
and learned about the captain way later. Always fascinated by
his typical vocal style and weirdness I became a fan half way
the seventies. Read Don Van Vliet’s bulky Wikipedia pages
to learn more about the man’s work and life ..

Nadat ik gisteren wat Captain Beefheart in de auto had geluis-
terd besloot ik vandaag weer eens iets van hem te posten. Na
een periode van psychedelische en experimentele muziek keerde
‘the captain’ terug naar zijn eigen bluesrock stijl in 1972. We
hadden tot dusver reeds het surrealistische ‘Trout Mask Replica’
en het meer commerciele ‘Unconditionally Guaranteed’. Deze LP
zat daar tussenin, zowel chronologisch als qua stijl. Ik was nog
erg jong ten tijde van deze plaat en leerde hem pas jaren later
kennen. Gefascineerd door zijn aparte manier van zingen en
vreemde melodieën werd ik een liefhebber rond de midden
