The groove received some requests for Nigerian highlife, who to
pick better then Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe and his Nigerian
Sound Makers International. This one was recorded in the
Phonogram Studios in London in 1975. The Chief delivers as
always and does not let us down once again with this hot slice
of highlife. Better get it & spread it now..

You must have noticed, this year I only posted five Colombian
albums so far. We were used to see them a lot more and it is
about time to make up for that shortage. Today we have the first
entry at this page by this artist. Armando Zabaleta didn’t even
appear on a collector’s album until now. The record we have
here is an oldie, still in mono even. Nevertheless we’re glad to
have it. Get it, spread it and enjoy listening..

Het zal je ongetwijfeld zijn opgevallen als je hier al wat langer
rond klikt, dit jaar heb ik tot dusver slechts vijf Colombiaanse
platen geplaatst terwijl dat er toch meestal wel wat meer waren.
Het is dan ook hoog tijd hier iets aan te doen te beginnen met
deze ietwat obscure artiest. het is een oud mono krakertje van
Armando Zabaleta die hier nog niet eerder verscheen, zelfs nog

It must have been back in the days, when Zecalouro was
still making his Loronix, the site that taught me so much
about Brazillian music, that I got aquainted with the music
of Donga. Various type of Samba and Choro which touched
my soul from the very beginning. I was extremely happy to
find this here album at the fair recently,
hope you feel the same.

Donga passed away when this album was still in production in
1974. The final track covers his declaration taken from the
Museum of Image & Sound in Rio de Janeiro.

Zecalouro van de Loronix site was de man die me bekend maakte
met de muziek van deze componist. Vanaf de eerste keer dat ik die
hoorde was ik erdoor geraakt. Donga’s diversiteit in Samba en Choro
is buitengewoon . Op deze elpee, zo blij dat ik hem vond op de laatste
platenbeurs, wordt hij vergezeld door een keur aan Braziliaanse
artiesten. Het zou mooi zijn als joe er ook zo blij van
zouden worden, probeer het eens.

Donga overleed terwijl dit album nog in productie was in 1974.
De laatste track beslaat slechts gesproken woord en komt
uit het Museum voor Beeld en Geluid in Rio de Janeiro.

Long gone but not forgotten, born Ignacio Arsenio Travieso Scull
in 1911. Known as Arsenio Rodriguez and died in 1970. We still
love his work hence the fact he is king of downloads with his no.1
album ‘Primitivo’ at this page. This is a record I recently purchased
for quite a price. Better get it now you lucky bastards..

Al geruime tijd van de aardbol maar nog lang niet vergeten, geboren
als Ignacio Arsenio Travieso Scull in 1911. Wij, liefhebbers van zijn
heerlijk werk, draaien hem nog steeds met grote regelmaat getuige zijn
nummer één notering in onze downloadgeschiedenis hier op de Global Groove.
Arsenio Rodriguez overleed in 1970 reeds.Deze schijf vinyl kocht ik onlangs
voor een aanzienlijke prijs op de beurs. Pak hem maar snel,
zooitje mazzelpikken dat je d’r loopt..

If I’m not mistaking, this must be the twelfth album we have by
the great Alex Konadu. Our collection is slowly growing to become
a huge reference book. Side one is bound together as if it was one
big song, side two however counts five separate songs. This record
was released in Nigeria in 1977 and is wonderful as the title
already predicts.. just a bit noisy unfortunately..

Een van onze samba liefhebbers merkte terecht op dat we
tot nog toe niets hebben van Candeia terwijl hij toch een van
de groten was, veel te jong overleden. Hij werd slechts 43.
Uit 1981 hebben we dan eindelijk zijn beste werk, althans
dat zegt de titel. Dus Sam, hier is O Melhor de…Candeia..

One of our samba lovers noticed quite rightly we still don’t
have any music by Candeia. This while he was one of the
greats in the field who died far too young, only 43 years of
age. From 1981 we finally have his best work today, that is
