Vandaag weer eens iets tamelijk bijzonders. Deze plaat is
zogezegd ‘ungoogleable’, alleen na diep graven vindt je er
iets over. Op Pathé / EMI en uit welk jaar is niet duidelijk.
Een boeiende verzameling liedjes met Sam Mangwana
en diverse andere artiesten. Een enkele track is reeds
eerder gepasseerd maar de meeste nog niet op deze

Today we’ve got us something rather special. This record
is so to speak ‘ungoogleable’, only when digging deep we
find a little something about it. On Pathé / EMI and from
what year remains unclear. An exciting collection of songs
with Sam Mangwana and several others. One or two tracks
have passed by earlier but most of them are here first time.

Hier hebben we nog zo’n pracht plaat op SAR en geproduceerd
door Roberto Torres. Monguito ‘el Unico’ is een van de mannen
die er vanaf het begin bij waren. Toen de son montuno net was
uitgevonden door de grote Arsenio Rodriguez was Monguito al
op zijn album ‘Primitivo’ te horen. Één van de meest gedownloade
elpees op deze pagina overigens. Arsenio heeft helaas niet meer
kunnen meemaken hoe groot zijn creatie later nog zou worden.
De grote meester overleed eind 1970. Monguito maakte nog
vele platen, luister naar ‘Yo No Soy Mentiroso’.

Today we’ve got us another wonderful album on SAR and produced
by Roberto Torres. Monguito ‘el Unico’ is one of the guys who were
there from the very beginning . When the great Arsenio Rodriguez
had just invented ‘Son Montuno’, Monguito was already there and
participated on ‘Primitivo’, one of the most downloaded albums at
this page by the way. Arsenio didn’t live to know how big his sound
became in a later stage unfortunately, he died in 1970. Monguito
made a bunch of records later, listen to ‘Yo No Soy mentiroso’.

Efrain Gonzalez was hier al eerder maar na het beluisteren van
beide platen slaat de twijfel toe. Is dit wel dezelfde Efrain Gonzalez ?
Zoveel zullen er niet met deze aparte naam rondlopen maar de sound
is zo anders op dit album dan op het vorige.. Hoe dan ook, hier is de
Cubaanse tres het instrument van zijn keuze en hij brengt er een scala
aan stijlen mee, het beluisteren meer dan waard..

Efrain Gonzalez was here before. However, after hearing both albums
one doubts if this is the same Efrain Gonzalez. There can’t be that many
guys with the same name, would you think ? The sound of this album is
so different from the previous.. One way or the other, on this record
Efrain plays the Cuban tres and brings us a choice of styles,
at least worth a couple of spins..

Op Makossa International vinden we deze schijf vinyl waarop
twee bands vertegenwoordigd zijn. Allereerst met drie nummers
Docteur Nico et l’Orchestre African Fiesta en vervolgens op kant
twee, Orchestre Bana Mambo met twee nummers. Heerlijke
sound uit 1982. Van Orchestre African Fiesta had ik ook nog
in de wacht een verzameling van zes nummers op een soort
bootleg of uitgave van Air Zaïre. De eerste drie nummers
op deze plaat staan reeds op ‘african 360.020’ en zijn
bovendien enigszins beschadigd. Als bonus heb ik nu
de tweede kant van deze plaat toegevoegd, drie
nummers die ooit als single waren verschenen.

On Makossa International we find this slice of vinyl on which
two bands are presented. To begin with, with three songs we
find Docteur Nico et l’Orchestre African Fiesta and on the second
side we have Orchestre Bana Mambo with two songs. Delightful
early eighties sound. By Orchestre African Fiesta I also had waiting
some kind of bootleg or Air Zaïre release with six tracks. The first
three were already on ‘african 360.020’ and have some damage
too. As a bonus I now added the second side of this album,
three songs that were once released as singles. Enjoy..

Uit Ghana zijn dit de African Brothers International onder
leiding van Nana Kwame Ampadu I. We hebben er al heel
wat van hun hand gezien, het lijkt op een verhaal dat nooit
eindigt en dat is maar goed ook. Ik durf te zeggen dat dit een
van de beste groepen is die Ghana ooit heeft voortgebracht.
Deze reis heeft hij ook nog eens niemand minder dan Chief
Kofi Sammy meegebracht, hij doet de achtergrond vokalen
in de titelsong, luister naar ‘Oman Bo Adwo’..

From Ghana these are the African Brothers International
led by nana Kwame Ampadu I. We had quite some of their
albums already, it seems a never ending story and that is a
very good thing. I dare say this is one of the best bands
Ghana ever had. On this journey they also brought
with them the great Chief Kofi Sammy from
Okukuseku, he does backing vocals on the
title song, enjoy ‘Oman Bo Adwo’..

Het mag gezegd, we hebben betere cumbia verzamelaars
gehad. Deze uit 1979 bevat wat commerciele nummers,
een paar instrumentaaltjes maar ook enkele dikke hits.
Al was het alleen al om Andrés Landero’s bijdrage, en
ook Adolfo pacheco’s nummers zijn heerlijk, check..

Okay, we may have had some better cumbia collectors.
This one from 1979 contains some commercial songs,
some instrumentals too, however, it does have a few
killertracks as well. If only for Andrés Landero’s
contribution but also Adolfo Pacheco’s songs
are very nice. Listen and hear for yourself..

plaat. Vokalen; Youlou Mabiala, Tino Muinkwa en Djo Moke,
gitaar solo; Dercy Mandiangou en Souza Vangu, verder zijn
er Don Jolly, Massaka Jaffar, Minialo, Tenga, Iblo en Zinga
Ngole. Gemaakt naar aanleiding van het driejarig bestaan
van Kamikaze Loningisa, 1980 – 1983. Luister zelf..

We hadden al een ‘Nkolo Mboka Vol. 1’ in mei 2011, dit is echter een
andere volume 1, waarop twee dezelfde en twee andere nummers
staan dan op eerder genoemde. Deze heeft geen jaartal maar ik ga
ervan uit dat hij ook uit 1983 stamt. ‘Sans espoir’ en ‘Mopaya zoba’
zijn hetzelfde, nummers twee en drie zijn anders. Zeer de moeite
van het luisteren, klinkt allemaal heel goed..

We already had a ‘Nkolo Mboka Vol. 1’ in may 2011, the one we have
today however is another volume 1. It contains two songs from the other
and two different songs. Today’s entry has no year of release but I trust
it must be 1983 as well. ‘Sans espoir’ and ‘Mopaya zoba’ are the same,
tracks two and three are different. It all sounds very good,
worth a couple of spins, listen..

Son Montuno geproduceerd door Roberto Torres is altijd
interessant, zo ook dit album van Chico Alvarez. Lekkere
trés, bongo’s, conga’s en koebel, fijne blazers
arrangementen, precies goed, luister..

The latest Sampler was posted two months ago, today we’ve
got volume 54. This compilation contains songs from Kenya,
South Africa, the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Trinidad,
