Super Rail Band Orchestre du Buffet Hôtel de la Gare de Bamako – Disque de l’Année Mali Musique 1977
9 comments on Super Rail Band Orchestre du Buffet Hôtel de la Gare de Bamako – Disque de l’Année Mali Musique 1977Wow, now I come to realise, it is almost a year and a half
since I posted us some music from Mali. This one by the
great Super Rail Band will surely make up for that long
hiatus. It is a bit worn out and some noise is inevitable.
..dusty tracks, still, I really love to listen to it, it has
great atmosphere, with Mory Kante from 1977.
Hope you enjoy, get it
& spread it..tracks;

On Discos Fuentes we find this swell collector. It’s from

that it contains some real jewels, another Angel Vásquez
song amongst others. Don’t miss it, Colombian gold..tracks;

- Tuesday December 10, 201312 comments on Canadoes Super Stars of Ghana
led by Big Boy Dansoh
Fine Woman, Rogers All Stars 1981Today’s contribution starts out a bit crackly but the noise
doesn’t bother much. Canadoes appear on RAS
from Nigeria, it is one of those Ghanaian highlife groups
that went there to get their stuff to sound different.
Two things, always nice to have a little puzzling to do,
label says it’s from 1981 and backsleeve says from 1982.
And then, front cover states it should be LIVE, but
it absolutely does not give me that impression,
what do you think ..?tracks;

Within one week we lost two Africans of great significance, first

We find them all over the world, here in Amsterdam I heard them
for the first time when I was a little boy. It provides us with the
warmest sounds such as zydeco, forró, cumbia and like here,
in Haitian compas. I am talking about the accordeon off course.
This instrument practicly always turns a smile on my face, check
this lp by Les Vedettes d’Haiti, just what we need to warm
our autumn bones on a day like this.tracks;

Last saturdaynight the world has lost a great artist. Tabu Ley Rochereau
was a legend, at the age of 73 he died at the Saint-Luc hospital in Sint-
Lambrechts-Woluwe near Brussels, Belgium. He suffered from a stroke
some years ago and never really recovered. “His condition got worse a
lot since last monday.”, his son in law Jean-Claude Muissa stated. Pascal
Tabu was born november 13, 1940 in Bandundu, Belgium Congo in those
days. He wrote his first song barely 14 years old for African Jazz. The lp
we’ve got here today is on Ngoma, a real gem.
Give it a couple of spins and remember
Tabu Ley Rochereau,
pass it on as much as you can..
