If you take a look at our Senegal section ( below left ), you’ll
find that we have some albums by Super Diamono de Dakar. We also
have one by Super Jamano de Dakar. It seems to me, the band’s name
was first Super Jamano, then Super Jamono and finally Super Diamono.
Looking for the release date of this album on the web, I found that
most auction-sites claim it was 1984, one page said late seventy’s.
My instincts say 1979 or 1980, what do you think ?
Nice element on this LP is the use of harmonica, something I like
very much, highly original sound.
And that sweet voice, is that Omar Pene ?tracks;

4 Souma demee balay jin

We have seen two albums by African System Orchestra, one from
1978 and one from 1981. I am affraid to make the same mistake

4 BolingoPosted by Moosat 10:43 PM - Thursday December 3, 2009
Some time ago I got confused finding two ‘Sambistas’ with the name
Noël Rosa. Yesterday I got confused over two African artists both
using the name ‘Papa Noël’. Isn’t that strange ? Now, Noël means
Christmas and since it’s december it seems appropriate to post some
music with that theme. This is Chuito, a Jibaro from Puerto Rico.
With the Orchestra of Johnny el Bravo. ( I love that name, makes me
think of the Johnny Bravo Cartoons ) Executive Producer; Jerry Masucci
for Fania Records, I don’t know about you but this is the stuff
I listen to with Christmas.tracks;
1 Fiesta de los viejos
2 Que bueno es cantar
3 Recuerdos de ayer
4 La viuda del Mayoral
5 Hay que tener fe
6 Yo me tomo el ron
7 Non Chu con Johnny el Bravo
8 Las cadenas
9 Lamento Jibaro

I made a mistake suggesting this is the Congolese Papa Noël.
It’s a clear thing by now that this is not the same one.
I must have been blind to suggest he was, nevertheless, eventhough
another papa, this is a very nice album, check yourself.tracks;
1 Tamba Zazou
2 No sens

In the l’Afrique Danse Series on the ‘african’ label, tonight
this one from 1978. It opens with a spoken part, I guess it’s
in Lingala. No idea what it’s all about, can someone explain us ?
Then Zaiko Langa Langa takes over sweet. Orchestre Viva la Musica’s
Papa Wemba invited his young friend Koffi Olomide and asked him to
compose for them. track #3 is one of Koffi’s first compositions.
Last but not least a track by Youlou Mabiala with Les Trois Freres.
