This is a Sonodisc cd from 1994 on which we find five
songs. They say ‘en compagnie de Sam Mangwana’,
but we do not hear him on every track. Track #3 is called
Batela makili na ngai, we know it as ‘Sadou’ of course.
Dear Franco specialists, please listen to see if the other
titles are correct. I hope it to be worthwhile ..

Today’s contribution is not my own rip, I found it through
a friend. It has a different quality, 192 kbps. It also came
without a backsleeve picture. One way or the other, it
is still nice to have another Empire Bakuba album to
listen to, get it and spread it ..

For this sunday we’ve got another album with Theo Blaise Kounkou.
It has no year of release, but I suspect it to be from the second half
of the eighties. Once more Theo brought along Master Mwana Congo
and to my pleasure Lokassa ya Mbongo and Dally Kimoko. Some keys
are present, not too many however, the three guitar heroes save the
album to my opinion. Quite up-tempo and strong soukous ..

Voor deze zondag hebben we dit album met Theo Blaise Kounkou
geselecteerd. Er is geen jaar van uitgifte bekend, maar ik verwacht
dat het in de tweede helft van de jaren tachtig moet zijn geweest.
Wederom bracht Theo Master Mwana Congo mee en tot mijn ge-
noegen ook Lokassa ya Mbongo en Dally Kimoko. We horen wat
toetsen, maar gelukkig niet teveel, de drie gitaar helden redden
de plaat wat mij betreft. Tamelijk sterke soukous ..

Always a pleasure to listen to the legendary ‘Les Bantous de la
Capitale’. We find a number of great musicians on this album,
Pamelo Mounk’a, Kosmos Moutouari, Nino Malapet, jean
Serge Essous, Celestin N’Kouka, Samba Mascot & Passy
Mermans among others. Despite the ‘Ave Maria’ I think
it is a decent record. Quite some albums with these guys
in other forms, see below. Enjoy listening ..

Het is altijd een genot een plaat te horen met de legendarische
‘Les Bantous de la Capitale’. Een reeks grote namen op dit album
zoals Pamelo Mounk’a, Kosmos Moutouari, Nino Malapet, jean
Serge Essous, Celestin N’Kouka, Samba Mascot & Passy Mermans
onder anderen. Ondanks het Ave Maria denk ik dat dit een degelijke
plaat is. Aardig wat albums met deze jongens in andere

He used to take care of the vocal parts on albums by Lokassa
ya Mbongo, Mayaula Mayoni, Pablo Lubadika Porthos, Bopol
Mansiamina, Syran Mbenza and Verckys among others. We
had one album under his own name with Zoe Matondo.
Today we find his second solo record from 1982. Quite
enjoyable Congolese album recorded in
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire ..

Hello groovers, how are you today ? Me ? I’m just recovering
of Covid-19 myself. Managed to stay out of the wind for two years,
but one week ago it finally got me. This omikron variety feels like
having a serious cold, some muscle and back pain, but not too heavy.
Anyway, I’m glad it’s slowly leaving the body again ..
What have we got for you today ? Another album with Lita Bembo
and his Stukas Mombomba Orchestra. We have heard a lot of music
from Congo over the years, but Lita’s sound is something on its own.
He was a theatrical figure, his music was like Congolese Pop-Cavacha.
Quite contageous and very uplifting, listen ..

Hallo groevers, hoe is het ? met mij ? Gelukkig ben ik weer wat aan
het opknappen. Na twee jaar uit de wind te zijn gebleven heeft Covid-19
me vorige week toch te pakken gekregen. De Omikron variant is als een
stevige neus-verkoudheid met wat lage rug- en spierpijn. Gelukkig niet
al te heftig, maar fijn dat het weer langzaam bijtrekt ..
Wat hebben we vandaag voor je ? Nog zo’n fijne plaat met Lita Bembo
en Zijn Stukas Mombombo Orkest. We hebben over de jaren veel
Congolese muziek gehoord, maar die van Lita heeft een stijl die op zich
zelf staat. Hij was een theatraal figuur en zijn muziek was als Congolese

It was 1985 when Michelino Mavatiku Visi recorded this album.
Although I tend to prefer guitars over keys and get allergic if I
find titles that contain the word ‘amen’, I think this is a decent
piece of soukous. I already enjoyed the record he did with
Franco in 1984. Today Michelino is back with this solo
project. Along the way I’m happy to hear a whole lot
more guitar. Powerful vocals by the way. Solid
listening to my humble opinion ..

Alhoewel ik gitaren duidelijk prefereer boven toetsen en allergisch
word als ik het woord ‘amen’ in een titel zie, denk ik dat dit een
degelijk stuk soukous is. Ik vond het album met Franco uit 1984
ook al zo sterk. Vandaag is Michelino terug hier met dit
solo project. In de loop van de elpee horen we gelukkig
steeds meer gitaren. Bovendien met krachtige vokalen.
Alles tezamen, lekker luisterspul dus weer ..
