We had volume 1 and now we also have volume 2. A very nice contribution

Until now it remained on the shelf, but because I posted
vol. 1 yesterday, I’m bringing this vol. 9 today. Let’s say it
is for your sunday prayers. Personnally I’m no fan of re-
ligious songs. However, I am a fan of the works of Pamelo
Mounk’a. Part from the two religious songs there are six
others that make up for the two, to my humble opinion.
Btw, did anyone like Orchestre Mando Negro Kwala Kwa ?

Tot vandaag bleef deze plaat stijf op de plank staan, maar
omdat ik gisteren vol. 1 heb gepost breng ik vandaag deze
vol. 9. Laten we zeggen dat hij voor je zondag gebed is.
Persoonlijk ben ik geen voorstander van religieuze songs.
Ik ben daarentegen wel liefhebber van de muziek van Pamelo
Mounk’a. Los van de twee religieuze nummers staan
er nog zes andere op die dit weer dubbel en dwars
goed maken, naar mijn bescheiden mening ..

For the straight soukous lover we’ve got this one with
Fidel Zizi today. A French record dealer once explained
to me why this is a funny name. Fidèle stands for reliable
and zizi for a certain body part. You can easily guess.
One way or the other, the line-up on this album is quite
strong. With Master Mwana, Denis la Cloche, Rigo Star,
Pambou Tchico Tchicaya and Passy Jo among others
it stands firm, just like Fidel Zizi .. ;-)

Voor de seieuze soukous liefhebber hebben we vandaag
deze plaat met Fidel Zizi. Een Franse platen dealer heeft
me eens uitgelgd waarom dit een grappige naam is. Fidèle
betekent betrouwbaar en zizi staat voor een zeker lichaams-
deel. Je kunt zelf makkelijk raden welk. Hoe dan ook, de line-
up op dit album is tamelijk sterk. Met Master Mwana, Denis
la Cloche, Rigo Star, Pambou Tchico Tchicaya en Passy Jo,
staat de plaat stevig, net als Fidel Zizi .. ;-)

There are some who say that Congolese rumba – lovely, graceful
and charming though it was in the good old days – is now a faded
relic of the past. But they haven’t heard this album. Two veterans
of those good old days – guitarist and songwriter Dino Vangu and
singer Sam Mangwana – have re-united to show that their beloved
rumba is alive and well, and still as beautiful and

More than 11 years after the first half of the double album
we finally have the second half. There was some discussion
in those days whether the record stood on its own or belongs
to a double release. I’m glad we can put the two together at
last. Mostly double albums come in double sleeves, this one
exists from two separate elpees. I just found this one when
visiting the city of Groningen last week. A happy moment
when stumbling on a missing link. Enjoy listening ..

Meer dan 11 jaar na de eerste helft van het dubbel album
hebben we dan eindelijk de tweede helft. Er was in die dagen
wat discussie of de plaat op zichzelf stond of tot een dubbelaar
behoorde. Ik ben blij dat de twee eindelijk samen komen. Veelal
hebben dubbel albums ook een dubbelhoes, in dit geval bestaat
hij dus uit twee losse platen. Ik vond deze vorige week toen ik
een bezoek bracht aan Groningen. Altijd een mooi moment op
een missende schakel te stuiten. Luister met plezier ..

Een juweeltje vandaag met André Kinzonzi alias Du Soleil
Krunganga. Hij was jaren de bassist van Super Boboto de
Brazzaville. Hij is de broer van Daniel Loubelo, Delalune,
één van de grondleggers van OK Jazz en mede oprichter
van Orchestre Bantous de la Capitale. Op deze elpee met
zijn composities vinden we zangers, Théo Blaise, Passy Jo,
Ballou Canta en Tchico Tchicaya. Verder Master Mwana, Ti
Jean, Denis Hekiman, Fredo en Jimmy. Luister zelf ..

A jewell today with André Kinzonzi alias Du Soleil Krunganga.
He used to play the bass with Super Boboto de Brazzaville
for years. André is the brother of Daniel Loubelo, Delalune,
one of the founders of OK Jazz and Orchestre Bantous de la
Capitale. On this album with five of his compositions we find
singers Théo Blaise, Passy Jo, Ballou Canta and Tchico Tchicaya.

Almost 12 years ago I posted this album with some of the
finest Congolese bands from the seventies. The version we
had was of poor sound quality. I promised in more than
one case to repost when I find a better one. This one was
waiting on the shelf for a long time to replace the former
and far worse copy. Another piece of gold on ‘african’
and one of my absolute favourites ..

Het is bijna 12 jaar geleden dat ik deze plaat postte. Een
album met enkele van de beste bands uit Congo’s 70’s.
Het exemplaar van toen klonk niet zo geweldig en zoals
al vaker beloofd, zou ik hem vervangen als ik een betere
vond. Deze stond al geruime tijd met dat doel op de plank.
Nog zo’n gouwe ouwe op het ‘african’ label
en één van mijn absolute favorieten ..
